ABAKIS, AIMÉE RINGLE, KATE COPELAND, and JUDITH-KATE FRIEDMAN will share original songs, insights, and inspiration on the Art of Songwriting at two related events on July 27th in downtown Port Townsend.

The four female artists are professional touring musicians dedicated to the art of collaboration.

They met and began collaborating in Port Townsend over the last four years and have since gone on to record and tour nationally and internationally.

As bardic artists, and as friends, the artists share an appetite for the eclectic, along with bold song stylings and mutual respect.

Equally strong as vocalists and instrumentalists, their sounds spring from wide-ranging musical interests and repertoires including traditional and experimental folk, rock, funk, classical choral traditions, jazz, gospel, alternative/acoustic, punk and the weaving of story and sound into songform.

Each also uses the medium of music to build community, bringing people together in new ways.

Ranging in age from 20's to early 50's, they appreciate the importance of mentoring and being mentored, they have designed this two part musical event for a broad and diverse audience.

AFTERNOON: Interactive Forum on Songwriting 4-5:30pm

Music lovers of all ages and levels of experience and curiosity are invited to meet with the artists in a public forum and discussion of songwriting art and craft.

This rare educational opportunity for local and regional songwriters will include short talks and song examples by each of the artists and interactive Q&A.

EVENING: Collaborative Concert 7-10pm

The artists will perform their original songs in solos, duets, trio and quartets. They'll also celebrate the collaborative environment and quality of life in Port Townsend.
